Cold Turkey

No, not the turkey you eat. But I did it. I quit cold turkey. I am sure you are wondering what I am referring to. Yes, I was addicted. I admit it. I still crave it. I went through withdrawals. I am sure I will regress. Are you still wondering? Well, I am a coke addict. Diet coke I mean. I am(was) a two canner a day.

It happened by accident. When I opened the last can from my fridge on Sunday I knew I wasn't going to be able to get to the store to get more in time for my next fix.  So I figured what better time to quit?

Monday I suffered. I had a headache all afternoon and had to tune that out and teach my beloved cycle class that night. I made it but I bet someone in class sensed I was off. I was crashing and I was crashing hard!

It is now Thursday afternoon. No diet coke. Do I miss it? Heck yeah! But I do feel better! I also figured I would save about $15/month.

While I know diet coke isn't the worst thing to crave, it certainly isn't good for you. What vice do you have? Maybe start small. Possibly just avoiding the person's desk at work that always has treats. Or the oversized cookies they sell(Jimmy John's cookies are ginormous) to accompany a lunch. Who really needs a cookie that big? Start small. Make changes a little at a time.

Wish me luck on my lack of diet coke. However, I am not willing to give up my morning coffee!

Find Your Fitness Passion!

Hey, it's me. I am lucky that I am at the place where fitness is just a part of my day. I don't even think about it. I don't dread it and I don't procrastinate. I just do it. When I don't, due to things that happen in life, I don't feel guilty and I don't beat myself up. But I do feel off and don't like to miss my dose of endorphins!

Enough about me. How bout' you? Are you at that place yet? Starting a new fitness program is the hardest part. If you don't enjoy doing something, you are not likely to continue doing it on a regular basis. Your solution? Variety! Mix it up. Try new things. When you find yourself falling off the horse, get out of your comfort zone and try a new activity.

There is something out there for everyone: running, yoga, boot camp, swimming, kayaking, golfing and the list goes on. Just those few activities are so completely different from one another. Find your passion in fitness. Maybe I can help!
